Party in the Park

Hoping that the third try is the charm, the last Party of the Park for the summer has been moved to Friday, August 21st, after consecutive weeks of weather issues forced its postponement. Enjoy live entertainment, free inflatable rides, food and beverage vendors, along with a beer garden and various activities in Central Park from 5-9 p.m.

This is the last chance to get this event in before school starts on Monday," said Community Development Director Mark Wicks. "It was also the only date that worked to get our preferred band back. We know there are some other things going on that day in the area, but stop on down even if for a little while to get something to eat and enjoy the music!"

Someone is also going to win $1,000 with the Downtown Duck Dash race that evening at 5:30 p.m. Plastic ducks will race down a water course on North Jackson Street, with the top 20 finishers to win prizes. The public can purchase chances to win at $5 per duck, $25 for a "Six Quack," or $50 for a "Quaker's Dozen." Duck tickets are available for purchase in advance at the Main Street Charles City office at 401 North Main St., or at the park on Friday between 4:45-5:15 p.m.

The band Retrospect with Jana West is scheduled to perform Friday, and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church is sponsoring free inflatable rides. Other activities and food in the park will be available for a fee, but admission to the park is free.

Party in the Park is organized by Main Street Charles City and made possible by Premier Partner Stewert Realty Company, along with the following co-sponsors: Circle K Communications, First Security Bank and Trust, Hy-Vee, KCHA Radio, Schueth Ace Hardware, Valero Renewables, and Valvoline Express Care.
